Before and After: Smoke haze glaze

I love before and after photos, but it's usually a bit of a trick for me to get them.  Often, when I arrive to do a job, the homeowner has already partially dismantled the room, and when I finish, the walls must be allowed to dry before the room is put back together, and artwork re-hung.  Lucky for me, this room had to be done in two days, and we didn't move the furniture until I got to this side of the room on day two, so here's the plain blue-gray paint:

I went back last week to tweak details on another room in this house, so I nabbed the opportunity to get after pictures:

The warm grays and browns in the glaze, as well as the velvety textured appearance, warmed up the feel of this room, much the way the addition of fabrics can.  It's that illusion of soft texture, coupled with a warmer color palette that makes it cozier, without adding girly frou-frou fabrics to this mostly masculine space.

Basic directions for this glaze finish are a month back on this blog, March 5th, "Life through a Smokey Haze".
